AAP SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS
The AAP provides college scholarships to children of it's members as well as community service awards to NYC public school students. The scholarship and award are named for two of our colleagues who explemlified the role of the Assistant Principal in schools. To apply for these scholarships download an application below.
Stewart Weiner Scholarship Program
Each year, the AAP awards deserving college-bound high school seniors – the children of AAP members in good standing – college scholarships. The award was established in honor of the late Stewart Weiner, the former Assistant Principal of PS 20, Manhattan, an esteemed colleague and dear friend, who was the personification of the adage, "No one stands as tall as he who stoops to help a child."
All AAP members whose children will graduate from high school this coming June are invited to apply for this scholarship. We award up to three scholarships of $1,000. Your child must be accepted in an accredited college program to receive the award. Applications are due May 01, 2018.
Martin Safran Scholarship Program
The AAP presents 15 students annually with the Martin Safran Awards for exemplary school and/or community service. The late Martin Safran was the epitome of an Assistant Principal. In his honor, we award $100 and plaques to 15 NYC public school students who give of themselves to their school and/or community. Applications are due April 30.
Candidates must demonstrate exemplary service to their schools and/or communities and must be nominated by his or her school's Assistant Principal, who is an AAP member in good standing. (Limit: three applications per school.)
A student must write an essay describing service at his or her school or community using these questions as a guide:
